Week Er (Two) - Uncertainty & Causality

1) Your Thoughts on Uncertainty

From the article we received in class, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle "implies that atomic-scale physical particles can only be described with a limited degree of accuracy because momentum and position-in-space, which initially seem to be independent properties, are shown to be intricately connected by the quantum principles that underwrite physics" (Heisenberg 1927:174-5).

This is interesting. I would have never in my weirdest dream come up with an idea to analyze or do research on physical subatomic particles... No wonder I'm not a Physicist... Anyways, this is interesting. I watched a video on Quantum Mechanics and it was a cartoonish children's video on explaining what this theory is all about. It talked about particles on a subatomic level responding differently when it was observed vs not being observed. That is crazy. It is like the particles are conscious of its surrounding. Is a particle a living thing? Or did the camera that attempt to capture the particle as it move through the air interfere with it mechanically or electronically? I couldn't possible imagine "uncertainty" happening on a larger scale although I'm sure what occurs in the micro will occur in the same on a macro level.

2) Your comments on Causality.

Dictionary.com defines:
"Causality"
1. The principle of or relationship between cause and effect.
2. A causal agency, force, or quality.

What more can I say? There is a cause and there is an effect. For me, cause is the doing and effect is the results of that doing. It could be positive or negative on both spectrum. There can be a positive or negative cause and there can be a positive and negative effect. It depends the way you look at it.

You push a car that's on neutral down the hill, gravity will take it down the hill. It may hit people or property or it may simply roll off the cliff without hurting anyone. If you look at or say something wrong to another people then there may be negative consequences. You may be assaulted or rewarded by the person who instruct you to say these things.

I dunno. That's my take on this matter. Dumb? Just say it to my face...

3) Is the Universe Weird?

Definitely!! Care to explain? Nahh.. I'm weird like that =).

Week San (Three) - Synchronicity

What evidence can you find for Synchronicity?

The theory of "Synchronicity" is quite odd... yet interesting. It help fill my mind with random thoughts. Are there coincidence? Does things happen for a reason? Is everything we do related or connected to one another? Or does the things that occurs in our world occur according to a plan? Are we living out our destiny? Do we have part in it or are we predestined??....

Do I believe in coincidence? Yes. I believe in running into people that I do know in a local supermarket or restaurant. It could be a few months since we seen each other to years apart. Its like putting some balls into a jar and shake it around and it will bound to touch each other. Or fishes in a tank in it will swim across each other. I know its not as simple in the real life as space is more expansive and options are plentiful. Nevertheless it does occur. Do I believe there can be divine intervention? Yes. I believe that there is a higher being with a higher intelligence and capability than ours, God. I do believe that this God can intervene in our lives or set two total strangers from different parts of the world to meet each other and get married.. or for anything for that matters.

Based on what you know, how would you explain Connectivity?

Dictionary.com define "Connectivity" as the state or quality of being connected or connective. Are we connected some how some way? Let me think... Haha... Not a good thinker... Although on a limited and more general capacity, we do breath from same air, walk on the earth, belong in the same galaxy or universe, receive heat and light from the same source. Are we connected in time and space where it is like what people describe as ESP? I do find it interesting when I read about twins who are connected in a special and unique way where they "feel" or know when something tragic as happened to one of the twin. On a more normal level, I believe that we can be connected to one another on a spirit level. With that, I also believe that we can connect to a higher being on a spiritual level. In my case, I believe in God. I believe that I can connect and reach out to Him and that he does the same likewise. I believe that Him as the Creator has a connection to  all living things. It is a matter of us accepting this connection from Him or us making the opportunity to reach out and connect to Him.
